Now to pay my dad 750 dollars for it. Thank god my garmin 510 fund is already in place (in my drawer). Now I'm broke, and working part time to save up for a car.
And here's a volvo wagon, and let it drift little sheep over your head :)

Can you explain me why you did that? I don't want to sound agressive, but I just want to know what you like in that product. Most people buy them for the status symbol, did you do it also for that. Why you didn't save those money for the car? I mean iPhones are too expensive for what they offer in my book. I never understood why people spend so much money on smartphones, when those money could buy much more usefull electronics. I understand the Garmin is a neat piece, even if I think it also can be had a cheaper alternative that does the same.

For the Garmin, I'm getting a deep discount, let's say half from a undisclosed distributor. I need to input training plans/strava connection stuff. It's a replacement from relying on a phone for tracking. I admire the iPhone for its integration, the fact the battery depricates in just a year and a half; the constant iOS updates that fix things (I've owned the Nexus S, Galaxy Nexus, and currently a Nexus 7 which the out of factory rom is the best), the jailbreaking community (I've met a few of them, and I admire their work), and mostly because of the fragile yet beautiful aluminum design.

i hjust got a S5 for 180 bucks, it has a bigger screen, lighter weight, thinner design - in fact it has every option that the i phone claims is new and has had it for about 18 months or so. apart from the retinal scanner thing , it has nothing new - which begs teh question - why bother?

Can say I understand the logic on dropping that much for a smartphone. The iPhone doesn't even appear to do anything better than it's competition. I would think having a car far supersedes getting a $750 phone. If you really needed a phone there are much better values on the market.
But, it's your money, if a phone is more important than the freedom to drive your own car wherever you want, who am I to argue?

I feel like I am dogpiling on you here, but you might want to consider that the most expensive phone available doesn't make sense for you. Like I am teaching my kids right now, phone ownership should follow the same rules as any other luxury purchase: don't buy it unless you can truly afford it. Both of them are required to purchase their own electronic devices with cash that they already have. This leads to a lot of trading on eBay and not owning the latest and most desirable devices. This also leads to a working understanding of value versus price.
The price difference between that pre-ordered iPhone and a comparably performing used Android phone (S2, G2, M7, etc) is probably a set of tires on most daily drivers.
Homes and cars (and not really cars now that I have been doing this for a while) are the only things I am willing to purchase on credit.

Admitting it is the first step...
To wit, if I were still single, I would probably be living in a rundown travel trailer beside my shop that had a Z06 Carbon Edition and a few different types of racecars. It's all about the priorities.

I ride my bike for long distances frequently, so it's not so bad. As much as I like and respect android, I would prefer the iPhone 6.
